Approximately 104 UH retirees gathered at Pine View Baptist Church on 2/27/24 for fellowship and update on our case litigation from Benefits Task Force members. Thanks to all who attended and the questions brought before the group. Hats off to Robin Petry and those who assisted her with check-in of retirees and general screening of those in attendance.
The meeting began at 2 PM with a greeting and prayer by Johnny Melles. Ken Sweatman followed with an overview of chronological events, meetings, actions and court fillings starting in September of 2022 to present day. Robert Taylor addressed the group with comments on our great support from our law firm, where the legal case is today and the significant issues we as Plaintiffs have taken as favorable strong points in our case. A question and answer session followed. The meeting ended with a presentation from Robin Petry summarizing legal case sign up requirements and instructions for newly identified retirees present that desired to sing up for the legal action following the meeting. With recent efforts taken and the identification of additional eligible retirees in attendance at the meeting, our total updated case Plaintiff count will total approximately 203 retirees.
It was great to see fellow retirees again and to communicate the efforts taken and now underway in our effort to guarantee future Medicare Supplement coverage as promised to so many vested retirees.
