The “One Day Only” Retiree Benefits Meeting

Yep, if you missed it, it was on Nov. 18, 2022 in the UH Auditorium. Poorly communicated by benefits leadership. Fortunately, thanks to the efforts of some retirees, the meeting was communicated to some extent and many were able to attend. I see that many retirees started receiving their annual benefits election form with a handout much like the one used in the Friday meeting. I received mine on Nov. 19, 2022. I had a retiree ask about the Aetna Medicare Advantage monthly premium rate for 2023. I was able to share that it would be $77.12 because there was and extra page in my on-site meeting packet that was not in the mailed packet retirees were receiving. Imagine that! Aetna Deductible moved to $175 and Max-out-of-pocked moved to $750. Fortunately for us 65+ Medicare plan recipients we only had to absorb information on the new Metlife Dental and EYEMED vision plans. If you are pre-65 and will be under the new Peidmont medical plans, note that it was communicated that AU Health is NOT in the Peidmont plan of coverage. Look into this carefully because care under the AU Health umbrella will cost you big bucks. Also mentioned in the on-site meeting were two additional meetings. One on Nov. 29 11:45 am and again on Dec. 5 1:00 pm. These meetings are to address the future medical benefits of retirees after Dec. 31, 2023. That was all that was said concerning the future meetings. Remember, if you need to change any of you benefit elections you must do so by Dec. 2.
